21CN - built on robust foundations

Even though it is a world first, 21CN is built on robust foundations. This table shows just some of the testing that BT has conducted:

Built on robust foundations image

• More than 193 million calls have been successfully carried over an IP trunk network link between central London, Woolwich and Cambridge

 • More than 600 trialists tested end to end calls between MSANs

 • Voice quality testing is demonstrating perceptual equivalence with 20CN

 • BT expects the vast majority of customer equipment to work in the same way with 21CN. A comprehensive testing programme of CPE is underway

 • BT has proved that 150,000 customer lines can be migrated in one week, providing confidence in BT’s customer migration processes

 • BT’s comprehensive testing programme continues at its world class 21CN testing facilities at Adastral Park and Swansea. Already Swansea has hosted five major voice operability sessions with 1,400 tests being conducted over 150 communications provider testing days.

BT continues to work closely with communications providers, manufacturers and industry bodies to test systems, services and customer equipment to ensure full interoperability with 21CN and service excellence for customers .
