Following his success in Beijing,Chris Hoy entered the record books as the first Briton in 100 years to win three golds at the same Olympic Games.
In addition to his success in the individual sprint, the team sprint and the keirin events in Beijing, Chris also won two golds and a silver at the World Championships in Manchester in March 2008, the 10th successive World Championships in which he had medalled.
Chris was awarded an MBE for services to cycling in the 2005 New Year's Honours list, and there’s no doubt he’s part of the most successful British sports team of the current era. By setting such a high standard for up-and-coming British cyclists to follow, he inspires future and current cyclists to strive to reach their ultimate potential on the track.
“It’s a dream to be able to do something you love for a living. To then reach and compete in an Olympic Games is fantastic. The British cycling team is now one of the best in the world. I hope the team can get even better as we progress to London 2012.”
As a living legend of Olympic sport and one of our most successful competitors of all time, Chris was a natural choice to become a BT Ambassador for London 2012 and is a fantastic role model for sportsmen and women of all ages and abilities.
