Like the rest of the UK, BT will be cheering on Team GB in the summer of 2012 as the athletes from across Great Britain and Northern Ireland compete for glory at the Games. But our support for the team has also extended further, with our long-standing role as Presenting Partner of the annual British Olympic Ball, held in support of Team GB and the British Olympic Association.
Through our close working relationship and support since 2008, BT have been helping to ensure that the athletes have the resources and logistical support necessary to perform at their very best in London 2012. A signature fundraising event of the British Olympic Association, the BT British Olympic Ball, Presented by BT, is held annually where Olympic athletes and medal winners past and present join fans of Team GB and luminaries from the worlds of entertainment, fashion and sport, for a gala celebration of Britain’s Olympic hopefuls.
Funds that are raised through the British Olympic Ball and other BOA programmes are essential in providing athletes with the high-performance services and support they need to excel on their journeys to, and during, the Olympic Games. We’re also celebrating successes through the BOA partnership to give fans an exclusive opportunity to see Team GB medallists in person during the Games. Located in Hyde Park as part of BT London Live, the official Team GB Fan Zone will be where British medal winners first gather to publicly celebrate their success with Team GB fans this summer.
The Team GB Fan Zone at BT London Live Hyde Park will be central London’s biggest venue, with up to 50,000 fans soaking up the atmosphere and showing their support for Our Greatest Team. For Team GB’s Olympic medallists this will be an amazing opportunity to celebrate in front of their home crowd in the heart of the city.
In addition BT have directly supported Team GB’s operations with our sponsorship of Team GB House, providing state-of-the-art communications services for the entire support team including the press conference suites for all Team GB medallists and accredited media, ensuring that the stories of success are communicated to the world.
