Tell me about training

Whatever area of our business you choose to work in, each Apprenticeship takes roughly the same shape. You'll attend workshops, complete online courses and complete college work to get your qualifications. There will also be on-the-job training and hands-on practical experience in your day-to-day role.

When you arrive, you will sit down with your line manager to sort out a personal development plan. They will set regular time aside to discuss how you're doing, and the progress you're making with your qualifications and/or craft skills.

What qualifications can I get?

If you're an advanced apprentice, you will be given days off work to study for an NVQ level 3, key/core skills qualification and a BTEC (or similar) further education qualification or technical certificate.

If you are a higher apprentice we will also give you the support you need to take a Foundation Degree in Customer Service and/or Information Technology.

As your career develops, we can also help you become a member of a relevant professional body, like the Institute of Electrical Engineers or the British Computer Society.

And you can get job-related, technical and professional development through BT Academy, our company university.

Where will I study?

Most of your training is on the job or in your local area, but there will be times when you go away to college training courses at various learning centres in the UK. Don't worry though, you will have an en suite bedroom to yourself and your meals & travel costs paid for - all to keep you in the perfect frame of mind for learning.
