Telecommunications framework
What's it like?
Depending on which role you are best suited to within this framework, your apprenticeship is full of opportunities. During this year our selection process we will assess which environment best suits you aspirations and skills. This means you could work in and technical office based role, even working as an engineer climbing telegraph poles or working within one of our telephone exchanges.
Who will I work with?
When carrying out your daily duties you will be teamed up with a 'buddy' who is an experienced member of staff. You will work with your buddy and shadow them for a period of time, initially you will be observing, then your buddy will guide you to carry out tasks with him/her. At college you will work with a bunch of other apprentices.
What will I be doing?
In the first year of the apprenticeship you will concentrate on basic training for your job role. As well as this you will be attending college to complete your BTEC/foundation degree alongside your ENVQ which can be completed throughout the duration of your apprenticeship. You will also be out with your buddy where you can learn and see the job role on a day to day basis.
Where will I work?
As telecoms is such a varied framework you could work in a number of environments. As you progress through the selection period we will assess your skills and select the appropriate job role for your aspirations which could be office based or even climbing telegraph poles! A key part of this framework is interaction with customers whether it be by phone or face to face at their business or residential premises.
