Yes. All Master's degrees count as higher than a 2:1 Bachelor's degree.

Can I still apply with a third-class degree?

Unfortunately not, as you don't meet our minimum entry requirements of a 2:1 honours degree (or a recognised international equivalent).

Is my degree subject acceptable?

Many of our technical and engineering roles have specific requirements. Apart from that we're open to all kinds of degree subjects and it would be unusual to find one we wouldn't accept.

Yes – we require a minimum of 280 UCAS points (or equivalent) to be considered.

I don’t have 280 UCAS points – can I still apply?

There are a number of instances where we consider applications on an individual basis that don’t have 280 UCAS points:

  • If you have a disability that you think may have affected your performance
  • If you are a mature student
  • If there are exceptional circumstances that affected your ability to achieve 280 UCAS points (proof of the exception will be required)

If one of the above circumstances applies to you, please apply select "280" when asked how many UCAS points you have. Then, on the application form, use the additional information section to provide further details.

Yes, we welcome applications from all applicants.

Can I work towards professional qualifications?

Graduates who join us via the Functional areas will study for the professional qualification relating to the particular area of work (CIMA, CIPD, CIM, CIPS, LPC). For graduates who join in other areas, this will be dependent on the role that you undertake .

Will I be able to study for further qualifications?

We will provide any training you need for your day job. If you decide you want to study for further qualifications outside of this your role you’ll need to discuss this with your Line Manager - full-time study is rarely supported.

Whatever arrangement you and your Line Manager reach, you'll be expected to show a high degree of commitment to developing your career and demonstrate how further education would benefit both you and the company. BT strongly supports both NVQs and SVQs.

Can I move within BT?

If you’re applying for our rotation scheme you will certainly be moving into different roles as part of the programme.

If you are applying to a fixed role, you will remain in this role during the programme to develop your skill set in this area.

Following the programme, you are encouraged to move roles as part of your own development, and because we’re a big company that means there are lots of opportunities, should you wish to take them. We advertise all our roles internally so they’re open to all.

Will I be able to work overseas?

International assignments come up from time to time, as you can imagine they are pretty popular. We always look to make sure we put the right person in the role, so you stand a better chance if you have the right skills, a track record of delivery and are proactive in managing your own career.

How is my progress monitored?

From the start, your performance will be reviewed against both personal and team objectives. You'll have regular performance reviews with your Line Manager, and you'll be expected to show how you are making a difference to BT.

If the role you are doing requires further education we will normally support this.

Do you sponsor undergraduates?

No but we do offer a wide range of paid work experience to undergraduates (see Undergraduate Placements), but not bursaries.

No, sorry you can only apply once. If you were unsuccessful in a previous year you can re-apply.
