FINANCE

Be part of something big

Want to be part of a team working on projects worth £750 million? Want to be able to see the results of your hard work first-hand? Want a first-class finance qualification at the same time as real-life experience?

If so, then starting your financial career on the BT Graduate Finance programme could be the answer. You’ll be joining a team that’s right at the heart of a major global company. There’s no deal, no bid, no marketing strategy at BT that the Finance team isn’t involved in. You will experience working in reporting, planning & analysis, operational support and specialist areas like tax and treasury. That means the type of work you’re exposed to here is more varied than anywhere else. It’s fast-paced, testing and challenging. But if you’re the kind of person we’re after, that shouldn’t be a problem.

What qualification will I get?

We’ll fully fund you through your CIMA qualification, which includes your exams, course fees and revision courses. We’ll give you time off work to study, and we’ll give you an extra bonus if you pass first time or if you win a CIMA award.

HR

Could you help BT prepare itself for the future?

HR supports our global organisation, developing a culture where everyone can succeed to the best of their ability. To excel in HR, you’ll need to be perceptive, good at communicating and commercially astute. You’ll need to develop strong business acumen, and really get to grips with all the different parts of BT’s business.

During the programme, you’ll either take on an all-round role as one of our HR business partners, or get the opportunity to specialise in areas such as learning and development, performance management and employee relations. You'll also be giving managers and their teams support and advice on a daily basis in areas like resourcing, training and policy development.

What qualification will I get?

By the time you finish your programme, we’ll have supported you to become a full CIPD graduate member.

PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN

Good under pressure with a keen eye for business?

Procurement

Our procurement team looks after BT’s huge supply base, directly influencing BT’s profitability and cash flow. It’s a fast-moving place to be, where you can see the direct impact of your work on BT’s bottom line.

As a graduate, you’ll be making sure the products and services we procure are fit for purpose, high quality and delivered to the right place at exactly the right time. You’ll be making sure our suppliers are as socially responsible as we are and building relationships all around the business. You’ll also be negotiating supplier contracts, so we’ll help you develop your negotiation skills – essential for any career in business – as well as all the other skills you’ll need to get ahead in your career.

Supply Chain

Our Supply Chain Partners (SCP) are BT's in-house logistics providers. A career with SCP offers a wealth of opportunity to gain experience:

  • in one of BT’s transport depots. As an operations support manager you’ll manage deliveries and collections and support the regional and operations managers.
  • in the warehouse (in Northallerton or Magna Park). Here you’ll be managing a team of warehouse staff, overseeing picking, loading and stock control as an operations support manager.
  • as a business development and service manager (part of the business and customer service team). You’ll be in charge of customer relationship management, key programmes office management and procurement interface, actively working with the procurement team to ensure an efficient end to end supply chain.

In all cases, you’ll be fulfilling a real line-management position from the start, with help and support from your own line manager and mentor.

What qualification will I get?

As part of the procurement team, we’ll structure your programme to help you study towards your CIPS qualification.

As part of SCP, we’ll help you get your Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in National Road Haulage Operations during your two-year scheme.

RFID tags, BT Vision, digital signage, whispering windows (shop windows that speak to passers by)... it's all new and it's all in Ker'ching, our virtual online store.
