BT uses a significant amount of energy to power its office buildings, data centres and network around the world, so we have an enormous opportunity to make a difference by cutting down on the amount of energy we use.
Rising global fuel prices have increased BT’s energy costs by 40 percent. As well as being a growing cost to BT, burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas for energy produces carbon dioxide (CO2) which contributes to climate change.
BT is running a three year energy saving campaign across the company globally. We hope to save around £15 million and 75,000 tonnes of CO2 by March 2011.
This will be a win-win for BT and the environment and we want BT people everywhere to get involved.
