BT is committed to contributing positively to society and to a sustainable future. This is central to our brand and values and is part of the heart of BT. We have been monitoring our carbon footprint for over a decade and have a strong track-record to build upon.

Having already reduced our footprint by 60% in the UK, we have now set our sights on achieving an 80% reduction globally by 2016.

Our commitment has led to many awards and accolades. We have been rated number one in the telecommunications sector of the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index for the last seven years and were awarded ‘Company of the Year’ by Business in the Community in July 2007 for our impact on society.

I was also pleased to hear in February, that BT was named as one of the top 12 green-IT vendors in Computerworld’s first Green Computing edition. We were recognised as being a company that is implementing smart, efficient strategies to achieve “green-IT”.

We plan to update the content on this website over the coming months to share more specific examples of things we are doing to tackle the issue. So I hope you will come back to find out more.
