John AbbottAs N3SP CEO, John is responsible for managing the state-of-the-art, secure broadband national network for the NHS. N3 is one of the world’s largest broadband networks, connecting more than than1.3 million NHS employees across England and Scotland.
John has spent the past 15 years leading the delivery of Information and Communications Technology services for a number of BT’s public sector and private clients – helping them to transform culturally and meet challenging demands.
Before joining BT Health, John was Chief Operations Officer for BT’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) IT programme, playing a key role developing new IP based telephony and contact centre services and building BT’s delivery capability.
“Now that N3SP has delivered the core network to the NHS, I am keen to start the next phase of the N3 journey - innovation. I am looking forward to developing new services to meet the needs of the NHS' 50 million-plus patients. I'm excited about what's in store to enable health transformation as well as drive radical cost efficiencies into the NHS,” explains John.
“For example, this year we will upgrade the N3 broadband network for higher bandwidth and a more cost effective service to the NHS, as well as develop voice applications and collaborative services for a flexible and mobile workforce."
