BT recently held the first in a series of webinars for its NHS customers to help them translate the drive for efficiency and effectiveness into meaningful practice.
Leading the webinar were Dr Justin Whatling, BT Health’s chief clinical officer, and Jar O’Brien, care team manager from Whittington Health - a newly formed organisation combining NHS Islington community health services, The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust and NHS Haringey.
BT has worked with Whittington Health to help them find new ways of working to improve efficiency and enhance patient care through use of audio-conferencing technology.
BT MeetMe is a hosted audio conferencing service that is easy to use, requires no special equipment and needs no upfront investment. This is important for NHS organisations challenged to find cost savings and efficiency improvements. With NHS organisations merging, collaboration becomes more of a challenge and BT MeetMe and the wider conferencing portfolio can help.
On the webinar, Jar was able to share his experience of using BT’s MeetMe solution to transform his Trust’s performance in patient discharge - getting patients back home more quickly to complete their recovery after illness or surgery.
The informative session shared learnings on how BT MeetMe has helped Whittington Health improve clinical outcomes, save money and seen a step-change in the Trust’s performance in a key national performance indicator. Whittington Health went from being amongst the worst performers in London to being in the top five in just two months - 830 bed days were saved last year.
As Jar put it on the call: “We’re really quite proud of what we’ve managed to do”.
Justin said: “We were delighted to host this webinar to share our experience and learnings with Whittington Health. The benefits they have seen through using innovative audio-conferencing services can easily be replicated by other NHS organisations. We have a wealth of experience in this area and would be happy to share it and talk to any other organisations about how we can help them.”
