Working with the NHS, BT has created N3 - one of the world's largest private broadband networks. Right now N3 is providing fast, reliable and secure communications for the whole of the NHS, with more than a million NHS staff and almost all hospitals and GPs now connected.
Whether it's a digital x-ray or an electronically transmitted prescription, health professionals now have vital medical information at their fingertips, meaning benefits for millions of patients too.
BT has also just voice enabled the network so that the NHS can make cheap phone calls over their broadband. It is estimated that this could save the NHS £900 million, which is something worth talking about.
