The NHS is introducing the NHS Care Records Service (NHS CRS), a fully integrated healthcare information system with electronic records for everyone in England.
The NHS CRS will give health care professionals faster and easier access to reliable information about patients to help with their treatment.
In December 2003, BT was selected as the local service provider (LSP) for London, one of three geographic regions in England where an LSP has been appointed. Our role is to design, deliver and operate integrated local electronic patient record and clinical application systems for the whole of the NHS in London.
BT will progressively replace and update the networked IT facilities in London's hospitals, clinics and GP surgeries. And, over time integrate patient information across organisational boundaries as part of the NHS Care Records Service. This means joining up information from across different systems, locations and applications for the benefit of patients and the people who care for them, across every hospital and care setting in the capital.
