Since 2003 BT has been playing a prominent role in the NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT), the largest non-military IT programme in the world. Run by NHS Connecting for Health (CFH), the NPfIT is supporting the NHS to provide better, safer care by delivering computer systems and services which improve the way patient information is stored and accessed.

BT is making significant headway towards the programme’s objectives and in the delivery of its three contracts.

  • The Spine - the national electronic patient record database and messaging system
  • N3 - the fast, secure, national broadband network
  • Local service provider - integrated local patient record applications and IT systems

Mary’s Story is an interactive video presenting a vision of the potential NHS of the future, supported by new computer systems being delivered as part of the NHS National Programme for IT.
