Personal Spine Information Service (PSIS)

PSIS is the central database that will contain clinical records for each NHS patient.

The PSIS record is designed to provide the Summary Care Record holding details of allergies, current prescriptions and any bad reactions to medicines. Work to start creating Summary Care Records for patients started in the Spring of 2007, and in the coming years a Summary Care Record will be created for every patient in England who does not object to having one.

In time, and with the permission of the patient, the information held in the Summary Care Record will increase to include, for example, discharge notes and test results.
