Spine Directory Service (SDS)

The SDS is the main information source enabling authorised users to find information about:

• Organisations, their sites and departments
• NHS staff and other relevant person records
• Services

It comprises the Spine User Directory and Spine Accredited Systems and Services, which ensure that transactions and messages are only processed from authorised users and systems. The SDS is a key component of the security of the Spine.
