BT/Symbian Developer Competition

BT Wi-Fi developer challenge

BT now offers customers Wi-Fi connectivity in a large number of locations through its Wireless Cities initiative and its network of BT Openzone hotspots. This offers the potential for customers to utilise new, exciting applications that make use of this fast, high-bandwidth connectivity. To support this, the BT Wi-Fi Developer Challenge was launched to seek out the most innovative applications for Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices. The challenge was supported by Symbian.

To enter the challenge, developers were asked to create an application for Wi-Fi enabled smartphones based on the Symbian operating system. The application was required to make use of the device's Wi-Fi connection for some of its operation. Applications were judged on the innovative use they make of Wi-Fi connectivity, how easy they are to use, and their commercial potential.
