BT has clocked up more than 7.5 million wi-fi hotspots across the world, the company announced recently.
In the UK, there are more than 65,000 BT Wi-fi hotspots in Birmingham and Leeds and some 72,000 in Manchester, Edinburgh and Sheffield.
BT also boasts more than 500,000 hotspots in Greater London, which were put to the test this summer during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
News of BT’s ever-growing wireless broadband network comes as it launches a BT Wi-fi finder access app for a Windows Mobile device (www.bt.com/getwifi). BT Wi-fi finder apps are already available for iOS, Android and Blackberry.
Said Andy Baker, chief executive, BT Wi-Fi: “Our mission is to make it easy to find and use BT Wi-fi at our 4.5 million UK hotspots. The new Windows Mobile app completes our stable of apps, making it really easy to find a hotspot out and about, no matter what type of device you are using.”
