A cost-effective new service designed to help large global companies add innovation to their business has been launched by BT.
BT’s new virtual data centre (VDC) service offers a scalable networked IT service that helps organisations manage their computing, network and storage requirements in real time, according to their needs.
It give customers the option of buying virtualised components for the VDC service. This, together with the automatic management and provision of servers, storage, networks and security - all supported by a single service desk - means customers can make significant savings over a standard hosted service.
According to BT Global Services chief executive Hanif Lalani, the VDC service - set to be rolled out to data centres across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region - is just one example of innovation in BT’s product portfolio.
He said: "It illustrates how BT is continuing to invest in - and innovate - its capabilities to ensure customers have the right services to run their business in future. The VDC service will deliver a new and enhanced customer experience."
Hanif added that the launch marks the first of a number of networked IT product and service innovations and updates set to be announced by BT Global Services this year.
