Podcasting is the distribution of audio files over the internet. It allows you to 'subscribe' to a series of, eg, interviews or presentations and have each new instalment sent to your computer automatically. You can either listen to the file on your computer, or transfer it to a portable mp3 player to hear it whenever and wherever you want. To do this, you will need an internet connection and some podcast software. Each time a new instalment becomes available, your software will automatically download it.
To subscribe to the podcasts all you need to do is copy the podcast URL by right clicking with your mouse on the podcast button and selecting the "Copy shortcut..." or "Copy link location..." and then pasting it into your podcast software. Please make sure you copy the entire address.
You can download podcast software from podcastingnews.com.
Note: Always read the set-up and help guides for new software. BT is not responsible for the content of external internet sites or the performance of the podcast software or any adverse effect it may have on your hardware or software.
You can download the files and listen to to them whenever you want, or even transfer it onto your portable MP3 player.
To download the audio file will depend on the set up and settings of your computer. To download the file click on the link using the right hand button of your mouse. You will then see a list of options including either "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As...". Selecting any 'save' option will enable you to save the MP3 file to your computer.
Using the left hand button on your mouse will automatically play the audio file using your default media player - this may take some time depending on the size of the file.
