How we're taking climate action
14 November 2016
We have a long history of taking action for a better world. In 1992 we measured our carbon footprint and set our first carbon reduction targets. And our work to help our customers, suppliers and partners cut their carbon emissions as well as reducing the carbon footprint of our operations helped us secure the Newsweek Green Ranking as third greenest company in the world earlier this year.
At the UN climate talks, COP22, taking place in Marrakech we shared the principles that have helped us achieve our successes to date and that will help us make reach our 2020 ambitions.
Meaningful goals – using Science Based Targets provides guidance for setting clear, measurable goals.
#go100percent – using renewable energy has a big impact and drives the creation of a global market for renewable energy.
Holistic thinking measuring our end-to-end carbon impact and using the Global Goals as a framework, encourages collaboration, helps effective planning and demonstrates the difference our work makes in the world.
“BT’s climate action is built on science fact, renewable energy, big thinking and collaboration”, said Gabrielle Ginér, BT’s Head of Sustainable Business Policy, speaking at COP22 on Monday 14 November, “and we’re using ICT to make a better world for our customers, suppliers and partners.”
