BT Renewables is appealing Durham County Council’s Strategic Planning Committee’s refusal for a single wind turbine at Junction House Farm, Easington, County Durham.
The single turbine proposal is an important part of BT’s renewable generation portfolio which aims to secure 25% of the energy that BT needs from renewable sources to help power critical national and local telecommunications operations.
The proposed site is located on land approximately 1 km to the west of Easington and the A19, between the A182 to the north and Pesspool Lane to the south.

Over the course of the past year we have been working hard to develop a proposal that addresses the issues raised with us in particular the concerns raised by Peterlee Parachute Centre.
We believe that the new scheme for a single turbine will address these issues while still contributing to our renewable energy targets.
We will be writing to all local parish councils and other local organisations confirming the details of the new proposals.
As a responsible business, BT is committed to saving energy and securing future supplies of renewable energy.
