BT Renewables at Red Gap

Progress Report – April 2012

As part of our onshore wind programme, we were awarded planning permission in 2010 to erect five 2.5MW turbines, up to 125m tall, on land immediately to the west of the A19 near in the parish of Elwick, approximately 6 km southwest of Hartlepool.

We are currently in the process of fulfilling the planning conditions agreed by the Planning Committee. Once we have completed this process we will be placing formal orders for the wind turbines with the manufacturer.

BT is committed to ensuring that local individuals and groups benefit directly from our proposals. We are finalising the community benefit arrangements for Red Gap and preparing plans for a residents’ liaison committee that will keep the community informed as construction of the wind farm starts and progresses.
