BT and BBC Children in Need

Once again BT is proudly supporting the BBC Children in Need appeal to help raise money to improve the lives of  disadvantaged young people throughout the UK. BBC Children in Need give grants throughout the year to hundreds of different organisations, some of which are very small and don't have the resources to fundraise for themselves.

It’s one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events; over £26m was raised on the 2011 appeal night, which this year is on Friday 16th November. BT has been supporting the charity with our technology and the support of our people since it formed in 1980.

BT’s support for BBC Children in Need includes:

  • managing the extensive network of telephony equipment
  • providing all the behind the scenes technical support
  • giving the donation number used on the night, and
  • providing the platform that will take every transaction on the night

In addition, we’re providing five of the call centres that will take incoming calls from the general public - Newcastle, Lincoln, Warrington and Glasgow and the flagship call centre at the BT Tower as well as the hundreds of volunteers who take the donation calls.

This year, there is another strand to BT’s corporate support. We are sponsoring the official fundraising packs that go to charity fundraisers across the UK and providing our MyDonate for Fundraising service as BBC Children in Need’s official online fundraising partner; a first for the charity.

BearFaced for BBC Children in Need

Louise RedknappWomen in the UK are being asked to go 'BearFaced' on Friday 9 November, to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

This involves ladies showing their natural beauty by going without make-up for a day. Although a Pudsey's paw print can be worn on the cheek, like a beauty spot.

These paw prints can be drawn in eyeliner or made of diamante spots. But temporary press-on paw print tattoos will be available too, from the 5th November - exclusively from the Post Office.

These tattoos will cost just 50p and the Post Office is generously donating all proceeds from the sales to BBC Children in Need.

Come on ladies - are you brave enough to take part? And guys, don't feel left out, you too can get involved, get creative and have some fun! Why not get sponsorship from your family, friends and colleagues in aid of this worthwhile cause.
