BT is looking for the most dedicated young internet teachers in a UK-wide competition
Now in its eighth year, the BT Internet Ranger of the Year Awards 2010/11 is open for entry! The awards scheme is looking for young people in the UK aged up to 16 years old, who have taught an older person or group basic computer and internet skills.
There will be four national winners, from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - who will each win a laptop and vouchers worth £100 for software and computer equipment - and one overall UK winner, who will receive IT vouchers worth an additional £200. Plus, up to four runners-up will win a laptop each.
A second competition – the BT Internet Rangers School Award – will recognise the best school or group that has helped older people make the most of the internet. The winning group will receive the top prize of £4,000, with two runners-up receiving £2,500.
By helping older people use the internet and discover its many benefits, youngsters are helping to bridge the digital divide between generations.
Entries can be made online at www.btinternetrangers.co.uk and the closing date is 1 November 2010.
