A Wheeltop is a customized portable personal computer, similar to a laptop, which is mounted on a wheelchair.
In April 2007, BT partnered with disability charity, Scope, to give disabled students access to Wheeltops. The computers provide a voice to students with communication and other impairments, as well as access to a range of communication technologies for education and social purposes. The three year partnership is called The Wheeltop Project. Its rooted in a shared belief that being able to communicate is a fundamental human right. The project, based at Scopes further education centre, Beaumont College in Lancaster, gives Wheeltop users access to applications like email, texts and the college network.

BT and disabled charity Scope are fast-approaching the second anniversary of a highly productive partnership that has resulted in a number of ground-breaking and innovative achievements.
