Inclusive Design Toolkit

BT commissioned the Inclusive Design Toolkit as part of its ongoing commitment to creating a more socially inclusive society. There are 10million people in the UK with a disability. The aim of inclusive design is to help designers develop mainstream products and/or services that are accessible to and useable by as many people as possible without the need for special adaptations. In a nutshell, inclusive design is better for everyone.

The toolkit was developed in partnership with the i~design research team. It was created to support designers and those involved in product development as well as providing a general guide to inclusive design for business. Designers can use the online impairment simulators to check on the inclusivity of their designs and the Exclusion Calculator helps estimate the number of people who may be excluded from using a product or service based on its capability demand.
