What really matters? Welcome to the summer edition of Better World magazine. Change is once again in the air as our annual society and environment report is launched with a radical new approach. A new searchable database has replaced the old style tome with a new style materiality report covering the critical issues we have found to be the most important to our stakeholders. The materiality process systematically quantifies which issues/opportunities are the most important through our new innovative new approach. Our first story A material world explores the reasons behind the move and asks why materiality is the word on the lips of so many responsible businesses. With summer upon us and thoughts turning to the beach and last minute get fit quick plans, we look at BTs very successful Work Fit programme for employees. Chief Medical Officer, Dr Paul Litchfield explains why it and the smoking cessation campaigns have proved such a hit with BT people looking for healthier lifestyles. Continuing the theme of healthy lifestyles, we also follow a group of volunteers as they get a taste of the green gym on a tree planting day with The Woodland Trust in Oxfordshire. The volunteers kicked off the planting of some 10,000 tree saplings one for each BT customer who signed up for paper free billing. Finally, we leave the UK to explore one of our key community investment projects overseas. KITES is a BT backed project based in Delhis most impoverished area which aims to help children back into formal education by giving them access to training and ICT equipment. As ever, I hope you enjoy this edition and your comments, thoughts and feedback are always welcome. E-mail us at yourviews@bt.com Adrian Hosford,
