John Anderson
BT Regional Director Yorkshire and the Humber

John Anderson retired as Managing Director BT Regions on 31 March 2010 after a career spanning almost 30 years in BT. During this time he worked in a number of senior management positions in sales, marketing and customer service in both BT Retail and BT Global Services. He held the post of Managing Director BT Government for over 8 years growing the revenue to over £2bn pa over this period. His responsibilities including sales, marketing & service to all UK Public Sector customers across the six business sectors – education & local government, central & devolved government, health and defence. Latterly he was also Managing Director for Strategic Client Relations within Global Services (UK), moving to Managing Director BT Regions in April 2008.

John was appointed to the post of BT Regional Director for Yorkshire & Humber Region in June 2006 and will continue in this role into 2011 and beyond. Prior to his responsibilities with government & public sector customers he spent over 15 years in senior sales management roles with major customers in both the financial services and retail & logistic sectors.

John was educated at Leeds Grammar School, Oxford Polytechnic & Manchester University (UMIST), where he gained a BSc (Hons) Management Sciences. He is married with one son and two grandchildren and lists rugby, cricket & golf amongst his hobbies. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a playing and ex-committee member of Moortown Golf Club in Leeds. He is also the sponsor of the Parliament Choir (from 1999) and a patron of the Southbank Sinfonia (from 2002).
