BT operates across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as an all island operation, headquartered in Belfast and Dublin, and employing over 3,000 people.
In Northern Ireland BT is the leading communications provider to consumers and small and medium businesses (SMEs). We are also the leading networked IT services partner of government and major customers and are responsible for providing regulated wholesale access via Openreach.
In the Republic of Ireland we are a leading provider of networked IT services to government and major businesses and our clients include Allianz Group, Analog Devices, Bank of Ireland, Police Service of Northern Ireland, ROI Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources, NI Department of Finance & Personnel, Primark and Ryanair. We are also a leader in the provision of wholesale network services, supplying telecoms products and services to close to 45 key communications providers, including AT&T, Verizon, UTV, UPC, Vodafone, Telefonica, Three and Sky.
We employ many of the leading network and IT services experts on the island, and can draw on the support of our global business where required. We partner with technology leaders like Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft, HP, Oracle, VMWare and EMC to integrate their products into our customer solutions.
We continue to invest significantly in network infrastructure North and South. Northern Ireland is at the forefront of fibre broadband availability in Europe. The fibre roll-out has reached over 90 percent coverage, following direct investments by BT and in partnership with the NI Government. International access from and to the island links our customers directly to 120 countries and 250 cities worldwide. We are also currently building an end to end IP network on the island as part of our significant network investment programme.
We are very much a part of the social fabric of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The special nature of our business - helping people to communicate better - drives our approach to corporate responsibility on the island and sets a clear vision for how we can continue the transformation of our business in a way that benefits BT, our customers, society and the environment. The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, which BT organises in-house, has become of the largest and longest running events of its kind in Europe.
Our approach is straightforward - everything we do is dedicated to helping our customers thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our priority is clear – customer satisfaction is our number one goal and will ensure our long term success on the island of Ireland.
