Terms and conditions


You may reproduce copies of material held by BT Heritage or take photographs/film of them yourself, subject to approval by the archivist and the following conditions.

Reproduction

  1. All requests for reproduction should be submitted by completing BT Heritage’s Reproduction Application.
  2. A separate form is required for each instance of reproduction.
  3. Reproduction fees will be charged.
  4. BT Heritage may refuse further applications from a publisher or broadcaster if, in our opinion, the standard of reproduction has not been of sufficiently high quality.
  5. BT Heritage reserves the right to refuse any application without explanation, particularly where BT’s commercial interests could, in our view, be compromised.
  6. Material must be used in full and not edited or manipulated without prior written agreement of the archivist.
  7. A complementary copy of the publication, broadcast or product must be forwarded to BT Heritage for record purposes.
  8. The Applicant shall assign to BT free of charge any publication right to which the Applicant becomes entitled by virtue of publication any material held by BT Heritage.
  9. Conditions concerning acknowledgement, copyright and charges must be noted and adhered to.

Photography and filming

  1. People wishing to photograph or film at BT Archives must complete BT Heritage Photograph and Filming Application form. This form includes acceptance of full responsibility for any damage to life or property incurred while using the facilities.
  2. Facility fees will be charged for all photography or filming at BT Archives.
  3. Copyright in all photography and filming at BT Archives or of BT Heritage material remains with BT.
  4. BT Heritage reserves the right to require film negatives, transparencies etc made of material held by BT Heritage to be deposited with BT Archives after use.
  5. Conditions concerning acknowledgement, copyright and charges must be noted and adhered to.

Acknowledgements

  1. With the exception of reproductions used in advertising, the following acknowledgement must appear in either the immediate proximity to the reproduction or in the section devoted to acknowledgements: Courtesy of BT Heritage
  2. Where a BT Heritage reference is available it must quoted.
  3. In the case of television programmes and films, acknowledgement to BT Heritage must be included in the credits.
  4. Where reproductions are used for advertising or promotional purposes, the form of acknowledgement must in every case be approved by the archivist.
