About BT Group

Role of the board

For the 2006 financial year and onwards, the Board will meet nine times a year. Its principal focus is the overall strategic direction, development and control of the group. Key matters, such as approval of the group's values, strategic plans and annual budget, are reserved to the Board. It also has oversight and control of the group's operating and financial performance.

The Board is responsible for approving the BT Group plc annual, half-yearly and quarterly results and its Annual Report and Form 20-F. It approves these before they are sent to the stock exchanges on which the company's shares are listed and before the annual report is sent to shareholders.

These and other matters reserved to the Board are set out in a formal statement of the board's role.
