Profile - Wendy Sycamore
I’ve been part of the analyst relations since I joined the Group Chief Technology Office communications team in January 2007. I’ve been the primary analyst relations contact for Group CTO since April this year.
Before becoming part of the team I worked in BT Retail in Customer Service, originally joining on the BT Retail graduate programme.
GCTO is responsible for delivering strategic innovation and technology vision for BT. It does this through effective engagement with all BT lines of business in order to achieve the highest possible innovation impact for BT and its customers.
Thankfully my job is made easier because BT isn't just talking about innovation – it’s a critical component of our business. We’ve been very successful in being innovative when it comes to our products and services but also in our people and processes.
It’s satisfying to discover that the perception of BT as an innovative company has increased by eight per cent this year (Opinion Former Survey 2008). However, I think we have plenty more to highlight such as our work on Customer Innovation Engagement. One place we recognise BT's innovation is on the innovation portal of the BT website: www.btplc.com/innovation
My main contribution to the AR team is helping to find the best GCTO expert thinkers to assist with analyst enquiries. It’s fair to say that analysts are sometimes surprised by the breadth of the knowledge BT has in technology - whether it is global experts in semantic web or internet architects leading in topics like ‘re-Feedback’, a potential architectural change to the internet. I also support the pan-BT team with analyst events and dinners.
Outside of work I regularly attend the gym, enjoy the theatre and broadening my horizons through travel.
