WINS

The Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Society (KNMP) has outsourced its entire mission critical ICT-infrastructure to BT following the signing of a five year contract. More.

BT is to provide and manage a broad and integrated portfolio of services that support P&G's information technology requirements. The two companies have signed a five year agreement valued at 650 million USD. BT will provide and manage P&G's local and wide area network infrastructure across more than 1,100 locations in more than 82 countries. More.

Stirling RoadUnder a £30m, three year deal, BT is to provide Network Rail with voice and data communication services. Much of network rail’s legacy infrastructure will be replaced by new fixed line voice and internet services. More.

Mobile operator O2 and BT have signed a managed network solutions agreement that will see BT Wholesale provide and manage high speed connectivity between the majority of O2’s base stations and its core national network in the UK. The five-year agreement means O2 benefits from a solution that takes advantage of BT’s new 21st Century Network-enabled Ethernet service. More.

BT has signed an agreement with Thomson Reuters to manage the WAN element of its internal IT infrastructure in an eight year outsourcing deal. BT will transform Thomson Reuters’ existing WAN into a high-speed, IP based global infrastructure that will encompass 323 locations across 100 countries including six applications hosting data centres. Scottish Water and BT have signed a £41.5 million contract to bring together all of Scottish Water’s communications infrastructure under one managed contract with BT. The eight year deal, will enable Scottish Water to consolidate its entire data and phone network as part of the organisation’s ambitious drive to reduce IT costs and deliver improved services. More.

A five-year network services contract has been signed between BT and Pioneer Europe NV. The deal, worth €3.3 million, covers secure wide area network-services, providing Pioneer with a highly resilient IP network that connects 21 sites across Europe. More.

BT has signed a three-year agreement with the celebrated Montreux Jazz Festival to be its main partner and official provider of communications solutions. The deal will see BT positioned alongside every jazz lover’s ‘must see and hear’ event. More.

BT has been awarded a multi-million dollar three year managed service IP network solution contract for STAR Group, Asia’s leading media and entertainment company. More.

Swiss-based international pharmaceutical company Nycomed has chosen the BT HP Alliance to outsource its infrastructure services over the next five years. More.

BT has announced a £62 million, five-year outsourcing agreement with KPMG practices in the UK and Germany – which together form KPMG Europe LLP, the largest integrated accountancy firm in Europe. It is a deal that will deliver significant operating cost savings to KPMG businesses. More.

LAUNCHES

Schlumberger and BT have announced the launch of the world’s first public wireless broadband service for offshore and remote oil and gas drilling rigs and production platforms. This pioneering service means that offshore workers can now communicate more easily with friends and family back home using e-mail, instant messaging and webcam. More.

Small and medium-sized businesses across the UK now have access to a range of corporate grade business applications from a single supplier. This follows BT Business’ groundbreaking partnerships with two of the industry’s leading vendors – NetSuite and SugarCRM. More.

UK businesses of all sizes can now turn their premises into wireless broadband (wi-fi) hotspots, expanding the range of services they offer to customers and visitors, and potentially creating a new revenue stream, thanks to the latest initiative from BT Business Total Broadband. More.

BT, through its global development partnership with UNICEF, is to provide £500,000 to support and train Brazilian adolescents on how to use a range of communication tools to influence decisions and to improve the quality of their schools and communities. More.

ACQUISITIONS

BT has completed its acquisition of Wire One Holdings Inc. (“Wire One”) from The Gores Group. Wire One is a leading provider of videoconferencing solutions in the United States and will form the core of BT Conferencing’s video business unit. The acquisition extends BT Conferencing’s customer footprint and significantly enhances its video conferencing capabilities and service offerings. More.

BT’s acquisition of Frontline Technologies Corporation Ltd. has successfully completed and the new company has started operations under the new brand-name of BT Frontline. More.
