Welcome

Welcome to the July 2008 issue of BT’s newsletter for industry analysts.
We asked you how you like to hear news from us and many of you opted for a web based newsletter instead of a PDF version - we really hope you like this new format. We’ve tried to make it very easy and convenient to use. We remain committed to improving our communication channels with you so feedback is very welcome!
In this issue we say farewell to Ben Verwaayen and hello to our new chief executive Ian Livingston. As many have already said, Ben is going to be a tough act to follow and he’s going to be missed. He has turned BT into the global company it is today. No-one can forget his contribution to Broadband Britain – and so many other things such as his contribution to the CBI taskforce and his enthusiasm and commitment to the job.
Ian has been a key member of Ben’s leadership team and has always delivered to a very high standard both as BT Retail’s CEO and BT Group’s finance director. We are all looking forward to working with him in his new role. In this issue you can read an interview with Ian in which he outlines his thoughts on areas such as mobility, innovation and BT’s partnership with the 2012 London Olympics.
There’s also a feature on BT Wholesale’s managed network services strategy, the latest on contract wins and product launches, plus a profile of my colleague in the BT analyst relations team, Wendy Sycamore, who looks after the CTO AR practice.
