Events round-up
21CN's potential outlined
More than 30 industry analysts and consultants gathered on October 22nd to hear presentations from BT Global Services on how BT will deliver global end-to-end communications technology and services to meet the future needs of business customers through its 21st Century Network (21CN).
The event was hosted by Ed Lindsay, head of client engagement for Global Services transformation delivery. Lindsay kicked off proceedings by discussing BT Global Service's 21CN strategy, looking at some of the key drivers such as increased speed to market, cost reduction, the transformation of 17 disparate networks into a single network and the need to make the network more controllable by the customer.
He then gave an overview of progress so far and what to look forward to next before underscoring his key message that 21CN will create higher margin-rich services for BT on a global scale.
Lindsay was joined by BT Global Services colleagues, including Neil Lock, who looked in detail at BT's web 21C programme, and Peter Pastides who demonstrated what 21CN means to business customers.

Etherflow launch briefings
The recent addition of BT Etherflow (the next generation, adaptive, high-performance national Ethernet Wide Area Network (WAN) service) to the Global Services portfolio has heralded a series of individual briefings between BT and industry analysts and consultants.
The sessions, hosted by BT Global Services' Ethernet experts James Moore and Steve Taylor, have enabled analysts to understand fully how Etherflow not only enriches the range of options available for organisations that demand exclusive control over their IP architecture and/or dedicated high bandwidth between two or more sites, but will help position BT as an Ethernet leader by March 2009.
Said Moore: "Analysts are recognising the strategic importance of Etherflow to the GS portfolio and have been keen to find out what makes it different from the rest of the market. The geographic coverage we will achieve in the next few months and its role as critical national infrastructure in the UK are key differentiators for us in this market."
