BT celebrates Small Business Week

"The landscape for UK business has dramatically changed over the past year but small and medium businesses remain the lifeblood of the economy. It is a sector that continues to be dynamic and energising, but more than ever, we need to ensure the right resources and structures are in place to support small businesses during these more challenging times."

That was the message from Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, when kicking off the second BT-hosted Small Business Week back in October.

During the week itself, BT unveiled a range of initiatives designed to help small businesses prosper in today's economic climate and plan for the future. These included a region-by-region mentoring directory and a series of webinars, events, clinics and guides.

The week saw BT launch the BT Business Environmental Self-assessment Tool (BT BEST), a free online tool to help businesses reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

To ensure customers get greater value and flexibility in the face of the tougher business climate, BT Business also launched the first broadband package to offer small businesses mobile broadband as part of an all-inclusive option that enables connection on the move for free during October.
