Larry Stone was appointed President, Group Public & Government Affairs on 1 April 2008, with responsibility for BT’s relationships globally on policy matters. He is also responsible for CSR and sustainability for the Group.
He was Group Company Secretary for the previous six years, looking after Board matters and corporate governance. He had corporate responsibility for retail shareholder relations, employee share schemes, group risk management, insurance programmes, group-wide security, the Equality of Access Office (a telecomms regulatory compliance function) and corporate policies on quality, data privacy and ethics.
He was a trustee of the BT Pension Scheme from 2002-8, and a member of both the Faculty of ifsProshare (financial education charity) and the UK Social Investment Fund Advisory Board.
He is Honorary Colonel of 81 Signal Squadron (British Territorial Army).
He was previously responsible for BT’s government, regulatory and media affairs in Asia (based in Tokyo) and for the European Union (based in Brussels). Prior to that, he was at Cellnet (now O2 UK), during the launch of mass cellular mobile products.
Larry (50) has degrees in Law and in Communications Policy. He is married with one daughter. His interests include sport, wine, walking and theatre. He is a member of the Japan Society in the UK.
