BT's response to the Ofcom Review of Alternative Dispute Resolution Schemes Report and Draft recommendations

BT's response to the Ofcom Review of Alternative Dispute Resolution Schemes Report and Draft recommendations

Issued October 5, 2005

Summary of response

This Review goes beyond the stated purpose of re-accrediting the ADR schemes and includes issues, e.g. complaint handling procedures, within the recommendations that BT considers to be inappropriate.  The Review should focus on the performance of the existing accredited schemes in carrying out their role on dispute resolution.

The two ADR schemes that have been accredited by Ofcom have some fundamental differences but the Review gives the impression that the two schemes are very similar.  Given the differences BT would have expected some of the draft recommendations might be more appropriate or relevant to a particular scheme.
