BT welcomes Ofcom’s Review of the Ofcom Metering and Billing Approval Scheme plus associated changes to General Condition 11. It fully supports the stated objectives and aims of the review to safeguard customers against overcharging; and to maintain customer confidence in the accuracy of their bills.
BT is conscious of the need to ensure consumers continue to benefit from the level of protection that the existing scheme offers regarding the accuracy of their bills.
BT views the operation of this scheme very seriously and supports the need for senior management sponsorship of approval activities. BT will therefore nominate a responsible Board Member as part of the programme of work to be undertaken by our Metering and Billing Compliance Manager.
BT will continue to work closely with BABT over the next three years to migrate services already approved to the revised standard and to agree those services that need to complete their existing progress to approval under the current Ofcom Direction.
Where new service applications for approval are submitted, post publication, BT will assume that the structure of the revised Direction will be followed.
BT supports the role of both the Ofcom Experts Working Group (OEWG) and the Extended Metering and Billing Approval Bodies Forum (including Operators) to effectively manage the operation of the new Direction and looks forward to a close association with both groups.
