Tilmann Kupfer

Tilmann Kupfer is Vice President, Trade & International Affairs for BT and based in Brussels. He joined the company in 1997 to work on European policy and regulation.

He covers EU telecoms trade policy, including the WTO Doha Round and Free Trade Agreements and works closely with BT Public Affairs teams in Asia, UK and the US. He also looks after the relations for BT with the European Parliament and Brussels based media representatives.

In the past, he was involved for BT in particular in the discussions around the EU legislative initiatives on Television without Frontiers, E-Commerce, Data Protection, Copyright, Data Retention and the Internal Market for Services.

Before joining BT, Tilmann was a Public Affairs Consultant with Hill and Knowlton. In the early 1990s he worked as an assistant for two Members of the European Parliament and was a trainee at the European Commission and the Council of Europe. After his Masters degree in History and Political Science at the Ludwig Maximilans University in Munich, he started his first career steps as a freelance journalist for the Bavarian Television. He speaks German, English, French and some Spanish.
