Introduction from Tim O'Sullivan

In this edition of Communicate we describe further the roll-out of the UK’s fibre broadband network. The rural projects are really moving on with all 44 of the original projects now having live street cabinets. Two new project deals have been signed and two of the original projects are expanding the reach of broadband through new funding. You can read about these and how we’re using microwave links in Devon and other areas to get broadband where optical fibre will not reach.

BT has also launched its Manifesto for Communications for the next government to consider. The UK is a world leader currently in broadband provision, and the stable regulatory and business environment has contributed to this. Our manifesto recommends ways to ensure the UK builds on its lead. You can read about this, our new nuisance-call preventing phone, further recruitment of engineers and more in this edition of Communicate.

There are also some useful items to help your constituents on the constituency noticeboard. As always, do contact me if there’s anything we can help you with.
