BT's "Route Map for Rural Broadband" sets out five models for public and private sector participation. These models, which are already working successfully through formalised Regional Broadband Partnerships in 12 regions, are supplier and technology independent.
Although not legal entities, the partnerships are a close affiliation of public and private sector bodies, which share the same goals. BT is varying its standard investment model specifically for these Broadband partnerships and is also using them to pilot new developments, such as wireless technology, to improve broadband availability to those customers currently beyond its reach.
