BT Scotland announced the advance upgrade of three Ayrshire exchanges for broadband, bringing the high speed internet service to 10,200 more homes and businesses. The switch-on of Galston, Girvan and Stewarton exchanges extended broadband coverage to more than 80 per cent of the homes in Ayrshire in early 2004. BT Scotland worked with the Ayrshire Economic Forum on the project. The forum is driving demand stimulation campaigns to grow the overall market for broadband across all technologies in Ayrshire, which BT Scotland believes justify the investment needed to accelerate the upgrades.
