BT Scotland has agreed to advance the upgrade of six Highlands and Islands telephone exchanges for broadband. The switch-on of Alness, Tain, Invergordon, Aviemore, Kessock and Fearn will bring broadband to 10,000 more homes and businesses in the north of Scotland. The six exchanges will be enabled for broadband sooner than expected: Alness = October 30, Tain = November 3, Invergordon = October 27, Aviemore = October 13, Kessock = September 1, Fearn = November 11. BT Scotland is working on the project with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which is driving technology neutral awareness campaigns that BT Scotland believes justify the investment needed to accelerate the upgrades.
