EAD: bringing the city to life
With anything new, comes the need to take a step into the unknown. That’s why we’ve developed two offers in support of our new Ethernet Access Direct (EAD) product. The first is designed to encourage our customers to test out a circuit at no risk to themselves, while the second trail blazes a more targeted campaign concept in the London Metropolitan area.
EAD is a next generation compatible Ethernet Access product, designed to supersede WES, BES and WEES and offering a single choice for permanently connected, point to point high speed data circuits. With it comes the benefit of enhanced test and diagnostics and price advantages on rental and resilience options.
EAD Try before you buy option
The Try Before You Buy Option (TBYBO), which went live on 29th September 2009, offers customers the chance to try a new EAD circuit free of rental charges for up to 90 calendar days. Customers can use it to conduct continuity testing with End Users, explore the enhanced diagnostics features in more depth, test the service with their own network requirements and undertake any training that may be needed. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of the TBYBO, it isn’t too late!
EAD London Metropolitan Option
Planned to go live on 29th October 2009, the EAD London Metropolitan Option * offers connection charge reductions (linked to volume uplift – the Run Rate) in the London City, Docklands, West End, Westminster and Whitehall areas until 29th April 2010.
Customers who sign up will also benefit from free desk-based surveys which will help to provide greater certainty around Excess Construction Charges (ECCs). Not only this, but ECCs will be free up to £5,000 – minimising what is often seen as a major drawback in finalising orders and something that often slows up an End Users decision to proceed.
As one of its provisions the EAD London Metropolitan Option aims to deliver lead time improvements. In support of this, a free Pre-Order Planning Assessment** opportunity has been made available in which customers can provide the expected order information to us ahead of time. Once armed with this information we will be able to ascertain whether backhaul and access capacity is available – allowing more time to plan and meet delivery requirements when the actual orders are placed. Customers wanting to take advantage of the free assessment simply need to advise their Sales & Relationship Manager of their expected orders ahead of 29th October 2009.

As always feedback on what we are doing is always welcome and we encourage customers to get in touch with their Sales and Relationship Manager should they have any comments or need further support.
*The EAD London Metropolitan Option is applicable to EAD orders for the EAD Applicable Products that meet the geographical criteria, and are placed within the offer period. The CP will additionally need to achieve the Run Rate as set out in the EAD London Metropolitan Option
**No circuit specific installation work will be carried out prior to you formally placing an order on the system on or after 29th October.
