Getting the most out of the Openreach portal?
If you are a regular user of the Openreach portal you will have seen some real changes over recent weeks and months. In the last quarter we continued to develop the portal, openreach.co.uk, in ways which are designed to improve the usability and functionality. These improvements include:
- New navigation making it much easier to locate the information you require with fewer mouse-clicks. A new navigational tool updates itself, depending on the page you are on, making it easy to see the location of other pages linked to the page you are viewing and to access them with just one mouse-click.
- Email content to a colleague option. This allows you to easily send information from pages on our portal to a friend or colleague
- News ticker: The latest news and key information now scrolls across the top of the home page and allows one-click access to more detailed information.
- An updated help and FAQs area which now contains a database of questions and answers and also allows you to put questions directly to the Openreach people who have the answers. All answers are then stored in the database and can be searched for by other users. Over time we hope that this database will grow into a really comprehensive resource giving swift access to information that you may need in order to conduct your business with us and with your own customers.
Product information
A host of new information has been added to the portal which provides details of our Next Generation Access and Super-fast Fibre Access products. Also added to the portal is a new area providing the latest information on Broadband Enabling Technology including a form where you can register interest in the product.
There are also quick links to details of the incentives and promotional offers for selected Ethernet and WLR products so you should never miss these opportunities to grow your business.
Targeting the information you need
More and more of the portal is now becoming RSS enabled, look out for pages with the RSS icon
RSS (it stands for Really Simple Syndication) enables you to opt-in to receive updates about specific information that you are interested in. Over time more of our information will be using this method of delivery to you.
With RSS you choose exactly what information you get from us, rather than having to sift through emails to locate what you need. Of course email will also be supported as a means of providing you with key information if that is your preferred means of receiving it.
Coming soon
This month we are also launching a ‘microsite’ which is dedicated to providing you, and other interested parties with information about Super-fast Fibre Access (SFFA) and Broadband Enabling Technology (BET). This site will show an indicative list of the latest exchanges as well as enabling you to find out more about the technology, our plans for the future and to register interest both in SFFA and BET.
Please visit the portal to check out some of these recent updates, and watch your inbox and RSS feeds for further updates. If you have any thoughts or feedback about our portal please let us know.
