BT

BT has around 900,000 SME customers, 63% of our suppliers in the UK are SMEs and SMEs are at the heart of our open innovation model. We have a stake in ensuring that small businesses are given the support and mentoring they need to grow and to be successful.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with TechHub to develop this competition to enable small businesses to share ideas about how to do things differently – whether it’s making departments more efficient by moving things online, improving how government interacts with citizens using the web and social media, or creating innovative new applications. And we are delighted that Cabinet Office will be part of the judging panel, helping to identify SMEs with ideas that could change lives.

TechHub

TechHub creates spaces around the world for tech entrepreneurs to meet, work, learn and collaborate, and runs a load of great events, advice sessions and more. They provide physical and virtual spaces that enable technology startups to work smarter, develop faster and increase their chance of success. TechHub offers flexible workspace, access to an energetic community, the resources of a global company, the energy and shared knowledge of a tech conference and the buzz of a social networking event rolled into one.

Elizabeth Varley, CEO and co-founder of TechHub, said: "This programme recognises how technology innovation can transform people's everyday lives. TechHub is delighted to support this through working with BT to celebrate products and reward startups that really make an impact."

Cabinet Office

Stephen Allott, Crown Representative for SMEs who is on the judging panel, said: "We have introduced a range of measures to open up Government contracts to small businesses. SMEs in the tech sector have been particularly innovative in seizing the oppportunities presented by our reforms and this initiative supports our work in this area."

Together we are committed to nurturing SMEs and helping them to turn great ideas into successful businesses. If you’ve got an idea which could change lives then we’d really like to hear from you.
