What do TBYB centres do?

Read about some of our centres below and follow the links to see them talking to Dave Barrett about what they do.

The Centre of Sign, Sight and Sound in Colwyn Bay

Recently I was thrilled to spend a day in the company of Jackie Claydon and her colleagues at the Centre of Sign, Sight and Sound in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Jackie runs a very popular TBYB centre from here and our cameras were there to capture a flavour of what goes on.

Jackie told me about the wide spectrum of people who come to use the service. She revealed her most popular phones and told me about the features people found particularly useful. I found out some great stuff from Jackie. It was really interesting - and it was reassuring too. It’s good to know so many folk are getting value out of the centres and from the products they buy and use.

Hearing Connect in Finchley

Earlier this year, I dropped into the TBYB centre at Hearing Connect in Finchley, North London with our film crew. We spent a really enjoyable day with Gabrielle Radnor who explains why the centre is so useful to so many people.

Have a look and watch Gabby demonstrate first hand just how our phones can help people with hearing impairments. And she says being able to test out a phone, is in many ways, better than looking at a catalogue.

Gabby also talks about the reliable support our helpdesk gives. It was a great day and I left feeling very good about how much value our TBYB network provides. This is in no small part thanks to people like Gabby.

You can see the results in this short video.

There’s always room for new centres, and if you’re thinking about joining our TBYB network, we’d love to film you making a start. We also want to hear from anyone who has been running a centre for a while and would like to be featured in our videos.

Wherever you’re based, our friendly crew will come along at a time that suits you best. If you’re interested, just drop us an email and we’ll be in touch.
