BT today launched its 2009 Community Connections scheme – acting on its belief that enhanced communications help create a fairer, more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to participate, benefit and contribute. Sadly, despite broadband availability being at nearly100% across the UK, millions of people still lack the skills and opportunity to take advantage of this technology.
BT Community Connections opens the door to inclusion and the possibilities of the internet by supplying computers and broadband to thousands of voluntary organisations across the UK, and, from this year, the scheme extends into the Republic of Ireland too.
Since it’s inception in 2000
One past winner says:
“BT Community Connections is a brilliant award scheme which has helped our community group to access the internet, build a website, find funding and training information, improve our communications and offer online support to our service users. This award is simply wonderful.”
Any voluntary organisation working in any field of community benefit, located anywhere within the UK, that hasn’t previously won a BT Community Connections Award, can apply for a computer and a year’s free connection to broadband either on-line or by post.
